Shine a light to transform your garden

Spectacular garden lighting blends functionality and artistry to turn your garden into a night time wonderland. By layering different light types, such as path lights and string lights, you can add depth and dimension without overwhelming a space. Solar and low-voltage systems offer energy-efficient options which are easy to maintain. By focussing on creating gentle pools of light rather than bright blasts, you will create shadows which contribute to the atmosphere. With the right balance, lighting can enhance your garden, create new dimensions and elevate your whole outdoor living experience.

It really depends on what you want garden lights for. Fairy lights add a touch of magic to your garden as they gently twinkle but if you are looking for path markers or accent lighting, you might be better with fluted stake lights. You should also consider whether you want solar or mains powered lights – solar lights are easy to install and take their energy from the sun but mains powered lights can be more powerful and consistent. LED lights are energy-efficient and are long-lasting and are available in various colours. Speak to our experts to find the best lights for you.

Lumens measure the brightness of a light. The higher the number of lumens, the brighter the light will appear.

10–50 lumens: Soft ambient lighting, ideal for pathways or decorative features

50–200 lumens: Suitable for general garden lighting, such as patios or borders

200+ lumens: Brighter security or task lighting, useful for entrances or darker areas

For most gardens, a mix works best, lower lumens for atmosphere and higher lumens where visibility and safety are important.

Some of our solar lights include an on/off switch. For the light to operate, the switch must be in the “on” position. However, the light will still charge whether the switch is on or off.

We recommend leaving the switch turned on, as the built-in sensor will automatically switch the light on at dusk and off in daylight while continuing to charge the battery.

During the spring and summer months, after a full day of sunlight, you can typically expect 6–8 hours of illumination.

At other times of the year, performance will vary depending on how much sunlight the solar panel receives throughout the day.
