We are so excited to announce our plans for Christmas this year and are busy working on all things festive! The elves are busy preparing the Santa’s magical Grotto and we are setting up our Christmas Showroom.  

We appreciate that for some it maybe too early to start talking about Christmas. But trust us, December will be here before you know it and you’ll thank us for helping you get organised and start planning for the festive season. As always, Christmas is set to be a busy and fun time here at Poplar Nurseries and we know that all of our regular visitors are eager to know the drill for this year’s festivities particularly in light of COVID-19.

In light of the government’s most recent announcement, and the pandemics worsening position, we have with a very heavy heart decided to cancel our Christmas Grotto. 

The additional measures, threats of further restrictions and the moving legislation is at the heart of this decision as we believe it to be better to cancel at this stage rather than disappoint children in due course.

We will be refunding all bookings over the next week and contacting people directly in this regard.

Great news – Santa will be back this year! No run up to Christmas is complete without a visit to Santa’s Grotto at Poplar Nurseries in Colchester, Essex. The big guy can’t wait to meet all the children on his nice list and to treat them to an early present in the run up to the big day. 

The elves have been working hard to create a magical experience for every child that will be sure to make this year’s Christmas a special one. Our team have been supporting the North Pole crew to keep everyone safe by introducing a range of COVID-secure measures, including more space and an all-new online only booking system to manage queuing and offer the ability for everyone to adhere to social distancing.

Father Christmas is so busy making sure that his Grotto is the best it has ever been this year that he won’t have time to stop by for breakfast. 

We know Breakfast with Santa is a firm favourite for many but having consulted with the team at the North Pole and reviewed our COVID-19 risk assessment, we have decided to not hold these events in 2020. The measures that would need to be put in place we feel would be to the detriment of this very special event, but don’t worry as we have spoken with the Head Elf and booked Santa in to enjoy his eggs and bacon with us next year!   

Don’t leave it until the last minute to get your Christmas shopping done. Our Christmas Showroom is set to open on 26th September and will be stocking a huge range of festive gifts for everyone –including fun stocking-fillers to make the visit from Santa a great one this year. Do all your Christmas shopping right here in Colchester. 

One of the most exciting parts about the festive season is getting to decorate the house inside and out. No matter if you’re going for an organised colour theme or a full-on look this festive season, our range of Christmas lights, baubles and tinsel will have you feeling in the best spirits during the most wonderful time of the year. We will also have a great choice of British-grown Christmas trees and a vast range of artificial Christmas trees at our garden centre, so you can find the perfect one for your space this year!
