The little ones have had a tough and confusing time this year, just like the rest of us. Take their mind off the world around them and bring them down to visit the Poplar Nurseries play area in Colchester! We know that like us, many of the parents who are regulars at Poplar will be greatly pleased to see the play area reopen. We have, of course, installed plenty of sanitation stations to ensure high levels of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained, and ask visitors to maintain social distancing so that everyone can play safely!

We have seen high anticipation for the day we announced the reopening of the Poplar Miniature Railway, and the wait is finally over! From 1st August, we will have the Poplar Lady back on the tracks and open to giving passengers a ride around the centre. In order to stay compliant with our Covid-secure measures, a one-way system has been implemented. 

The train is run by a dedicated bunch, who were sad to see the wheels stop turning. Although the train is running from the 1st, days and times may vary so please check this if you are making a special journey. Our Poplar Restaurant is open, and we couldn’t be happier! A great option when looking for places to eat in Essex - many visit us just for our tasty homecooked meals, but it’s perfect for taking a break from browsing the garden centre or letting the kids refuel from an afternoon of play. 

During the month of August our restaurant has been made even more enjoyable with big discounts due to the Eat Out to Help Out scheme. Introduced by the government, the scheme has made it possible for us to offer our customers 50% off per person for all restaurant food and non-alcoholic drinks. The deal is available for the duration of August, Monday to Wednesday, and even includes orders off our Children’s menu (available to children below the age of 12). Who could resist a full English breakfast (served until 11:30am) for just £3.75? Or a selection of kid’s meals from only £2.50!
