Poplar Reopening

We are delighted that on Friday 8th May we are reopening (usual hours 8.30am-5.00pm) and will be here to support our community with fresh produce, store items and some garden essentials.

Following agreement and confirmation from Colchester Borough Council, ongoing advice from The Horticultural Trades Association and implementation of stringent social distance and safety measures we are set to welcome you back.

Your safety and that of our team are extremely important to us.  Our store has been professionally cleaned and sanitized via the latest fogging system. We have conducted a full review of safety measures including sanitising stations on the entrance and exit, the fitting of screens around sales areas, floor markings and signage requiring that a 2m social distance is maintained between both customers and staff.

To ensure this is achievable a maximum occupancy of ninety households have been agreed for the site. This will be adhered to by controlling the entrance with a one-in-one-out system.  We have reviewed our safety measures and our maximum count in store remains the same, however we can now welcome more than two people per household.

Our usual capacity is much greater than ninety households and we would recommend avoid peak times (usually 11am – 4pm) by visiting early and late in the day.

Whilst the Garden Centre is permitted to open this does not extend to the restaurant which must remain closed at the current time.  The Farm Shop will be open alongside the centre, but no products from the Farm Shop are to be consumed on site.

We ask our customers to abide by social distancing and the measures Poplar have put in place to keep everyone safe and thank you for your patience when shopping in store.

Please note that our restaurant reopened on the 4th July.  Click here for further details.
