Summer bulbs, corms and tubers will fill your garden with interest and colour for many years to come. They can be used to fill containers or garden borders. They take up very little space so you can squeeze a few into the fullest of borders.

Dahlias are, of course, a definite favourite and you will be spoilt for choice with our selections of these gorgeous showy plants that will provide displays from summer into autumn. Dahlias make wonderful cut flowers and if you keep cutting them they will carry on producing more blooms until the first frosts. It is recommended that the root tubers are dug up and stored in a frost-free place over the winter as they are not hardy.

If we had to choose one Dahlia to tempt you with, it would have to be Dahlia Waltzing Mathilda which has attractive dark foliage and pink flowers with a red edge. Waltzing Mathilda has an RHS Award Of Garden Merit and is also an RHS Plant For Pollinators. It flowers all summer long at a height of 90cm/36”.

Looking further ahead to autumn you can ensure that your displays continue by planting Nerines. Hardy nerine, which bloom in early to mid-autumn, produce star-shaped flowers in shades of pink and white, making them perfect bulbs for introducing late-season colour to the garden. Frost-sensitive varieties require winter protection. They also yield equally striking blooms, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of greenhouse and conservatory displays during October and November.

Look out also for our selections of Gladioli with their sword-like leaves and upright flower spikes, Agapanthus with their sturdy stems carrying trumpet shaped flowers in varying shades of blue as well as plenty of other summer favourites.
