We are so excited to announce our plans for Christmas this year and are busy working on all things festive! The elves are busy preparing the Santa’s magical Grotto and we are setting up our Christmas Showroom.
If you’re planning your summer holiday days out in Essex, Poplar Nurseries have something for everyone to enjoy.
Today, 24th July, the government introduced compulsory wearing of mask in shops across the UK and we have seen lots of customers today in an array of masks from the plain to the plant patterned – which we love!
There are very few better ways to while away an afternoon than a casual meander around your local garden centre. Whether you are looking to pick up a specific plant, find a great gift for a green-fingered friend or just fancy a cup of tea and a slice of cake in a relaxed environment, then you won’t find anywhere else that offers everything under one roof. Here are just some of the many ways the team at Poplar are looking to make us the best garden centre in Essex, where you are guaranteed a great experience on every visit:
Enjoy all your favourites at our Poplar restaurant including, breakfast, lunch or coffee and cake ... and now an even bigger incentive to visit ... 50% off!

Poplar Nurseries is temporarily closed in accordance with government guidelines, but we know our gardens are more important than ever and have created Poplar Delivers so we can bring a little bit of Poplar to you!
We are delighted that on Friday 8th May we are reopening (usual hours 8.30am-5.00pm) and will be here to support our community with fresh produce, store items and some garden essentials. Following agreement and confirmation from Colchester Borough Council, ongoing advice from The Horticultural Trades Association and implementation of stringent social distance and safety measures we are set to welcome you back. Your safety and that of your team are extremely important to us. Our store has been professionally cleaned and sanitized via the latest fogging system. We have conducted a full review of safety measures including including sanitising stations on the entrance and exit, the fitting of screens around sales areas, floor markings and signage requiring that a 2m social distance is maintained between both customer and staff. We have reviewed our safety measures and our maximum count in store remains the same, however we can now welcome more than two people per household.
