BBQ Cook-Along Courses at Poplar Nurseries 2026

Join us, here at Poplar Nurseries, for a hands on BBQ cooking course. This course is hosted by Jack Rowbottom, from Jacks Meat Shack, who will be sharing with you tips and tricks to up your BBQ game. With tasters throughout the event, Jack will be showcasing the very best of Weber, Grillstream & Kamado, showing you how the grill can influence the flavour!

As well as advice on grilling, the course will go into depth of how to make your own sauces, and adventure into the perfect flavour combinations.

Do you have any attractions for children?

Yes, absolutely. We want all our visitors – big and small – to enjoy their visit to Poplar Nurseries. Our miniature railway can be ridden by visitors of all ages but is especially popular with children. This beautiful line runs for 350 yards around the nursery travelling from the station to the play area where children can alight and burn off some energy on the swings, slide and climbing frame. We also stage a series of workshops and other fun activities to keep kids entertained during the school holidays. Visit our What’s On page to see all the latest events. Children must be supervised at all times.

Do you hold any regular events at Poplar?

Yes, we do. We have clubs which regularly meet at Poplar including the Gardening Club which was established by a team of amateur gardens more than 25 years ago. Monthly meetings for the club are held in the restaurant with a guest speaker sharing knowledge on a range of gardening topics. The club also organises four- or five-day trips and a five-day holiday each year visiting various gardens around the country as well as spring and Christmas social events.

Are there any courses for budding BBQ chefs?

Yes, indeed. Join us at Poplar Nurseries for a hands on BBQ cooking course hosted by Jack Rowbottom from Jack’s Meat Shack. Jack will be sharing top tips on how to get the best flavour from your BBQ cooking and will be showcasing the best of Weber, Grillstream and Kamado Joe grills. Do you hold any special events?

Yes, we certainly do. We are always looking for ways to add an extra attraction to Poplar Nurseries including having celebrity guest speakers at our Gardening Club meetings. And Christmas would not be Christmas without our magical Breakfast with Santa experience. These events are so popular that booking is essential. Keep an eye on our website here for more information.
