Fresh Fish From Sea To Deli To Plate
We are pleased to announce that our Poplar Food Hall is now offering fresh fish sourced from Wivenhoe trawlers and Billingsgate Fish Market from Wednesday to Sunday.
Selections of our finest fresh fish will include:
Sea bass fillets
Dover sole (Brighton)
Sword fish steaks
Cooked crevettes (king prawns)
Tubs of cockles
Tubs of brown shrimps
Sweet cured herrings
At the weekends we will have dressed Cromer crab, king scallops, oysters from Mersea and Maldon and possibly clams when available.
Pre-orders are available for monkfish, skate, plaice and whole rainbow trout.
Please note that some fish supplies may not be available due to market availability and seasons.
The Little Fish Company - a message from our supplier:
“My father Nick started fishing when he was sixteen years old working on deep sea trawlers out of Lowerstoft for Boston Deep Sea Fisheries.
He bought his first boat when he was twenty years old - the Sandti CK1, which he used to catch Dover soles and skate.
Over the years Nick has owned various boats and currently owns the Hugh Patrick RX394. In 2019 we began selling fish from our boat to the people of Wivenhoe, rather than exporting it and under the watchful eye of Nick I began helping him with various preparation.
In January 2021 I was approached about buying one of the companies that we supplied local fish to and in September 2021 bought The Little Fish Company in Kelvedon.”
Fresh Fish Linguine:
Mussels, cod, scallops, swordfish, crevettes and sea bream ordered, arrived within seven hours to plate and served in our restaurant. This delicious linguine was created by Nathan (our Head Chef) as a daily special dish and definitely tasted as good as it looked.
